Does opening cans and operating an electrical ice-shaver count as cooking? Probably not, but it can result in something sweet and delicious.
Coming home after a disappointing dinner at Lai Huat, we raided the fridge and found some lovely fresh fruits. I usually order fresh fruits from a wholesaler which makes home deliveries, and today we have black grapes, sugar prunes, fragrant pears and a whole Sarawak pineapple in addition to the usual carrots and potatoes.
However, my greedy inner self was not satisfied with fresh fruits. It wants something even sweeter and colder. There was no ice cream in stock, but we have plenty of ice, and as always, a stockpile of canned food. Plus, we have an ice-shaver, present to ourselves two Xmas-es ago. I wielded the can opener on some canned peaches and longans, while husband did the more macho operation of the ice-shaver (pressing button requires strength you know). A squeeze of fresh lime juice on the ice and voila! a refreshing fruity dessert.
