Had this corn for lunch today. It is extremely sweet and tender. Imported from Japan and available at Isetan supermarket, it is also hideously expensive (~S$5 per pc, ouch!). You would not want to use it in a chicken and sweetcorn soup. I zapped it in the microwave for 2 minutes and it was ready to eat.
Learnt something new from my colleagues: To select sweet oranges, look at the indentation at the bottom. The bigger it is, the sweeter the fruit.
Reminds me of something similar. When choosing bittergourd, I always look for the ones with shallow grooves, as they tend to be less bitter.
Just finished a Rose Apple. Isetan was selling them 4 to a pack.
It is a brilliant red colour, and longer than the more common pink and green jambu. Very sweet, juicy with mimimal hard fibre.
