I was born in Ipoh, an ex tin-mining town north of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. The hospital I was born in had a lovely fan-shaped palm tree in the front yard. My parents made sure I was well educated, from the age of 10 I was sent to Singapore and a few years later, London. Work brought me to Singapore where I eventually settled down with one of its people, but I am still Malaysian at heart.
For the moment I, husband, our young daughter and 2 dogs live in Paris. We'll be here for about 3 years. Theoretically this means I have more time to read, to quilt and to learn French. In reality I seem to always be web-surfing.
I have 3 weblogs:
Umami is for food writings. I eat out a lot, cook occasionally and dream in colour.
Umami 2 documents the other stuff that is going on in my life. Hobbies, projects, misadventures and observations about life in Singapore. This blog has been left defunct since late 2006, but people still find their way there to look for lucky numbers or Oshin DVDs.
Umami(Vox) is the new Umami2- and there's videos to make it more interesting.
